Farm Field Trips

Umpqua Valley Farm to School provides on-farm field trips for groups of students throughout Douglas County. Each field trip gives students the opportunity to learn about life on a farm and see the journey our food travels from seed to table.

Field trips require many volunteers and coordination, so if you’re interested in volunteering for one of these trips, head to our Volunteer Page and fill out the form!

Registration is open for 2023 Fall Field Trips!

Fall is the perfect time to bring kids out to the farm to witness the changing seasons and learn about the abundance of food produced in the Umpqua Valley. We have multiple field trips scheduled in October at Bare Hill Farm in Melrose and Valadez Organic Produce in Myrtle Creek. Both farms have pumpkin patches where students will get to pick their own pumpkin to take home. These 90-minute field trips are most appropriate for younger grades, but any K-5th grade class is welcome to register.

There is no cost to participate, and we encourage schools that do not have their own funding for farm field trips to register. Transportation is not included so schools must arrange their own buses. We can accommodate multiple classes per trip, but capacity is limited to 45 students.

Click here to fill out the interest form. We will follow up to confirm your registration and share additional details.
